What is Good music?

In my opinion, their are select group of Artists who truly represent GOOD music. We see artists who come out with one hit songs, artists who come out with one great song every so often, but where has the real, genuine, and pure talent gone?

An artist that is REAL with it's audience, is the type of artist most people can relate to. For me, hearing about drugs and alcohol gets old after a while. While those are both things that play a huge role in today's society, there are so many more things that need to be addressed. To make it the music business today, you don't even necessarily need to be talented. With today's technology they can take even the worst voice, and make it sounds presentable. Often times, if they have a "marketable personality" they can become famous, even if they could not pick up a single instrument, or show any sign of rhythm.

More times than not, an artist will start off being real, and genuine, doing things they love, and creating things they feel in their heart, until a label gets a hold of them. Suddenly, when under the spotlight, we see them change. The music we used to love before they got "famous" has left, and they turn to this lifestyle that they think the world wants to see.

One of the artists I think that has stayed true to who he is, despite what the media says about him, is Kanye West. He has constantly grown in his music ability, yet remained the same person. He is not afraid to say how he feels, whether through music, or getting up on a stage in front of thousands of people and disagreeing with Taylor Switfts nomination. Another artists who is beginning to become more popular is Tyler the creator. His lyrics may be controversial, but they're true. He doesn't sugar coat what he has to say. Ryan Leslie is another definition of true talent. Timbaland is another. You cannot put him in a box. He constantly is creating new ideas, and has helped transform today's hiphop/pop culture into something more than just pretty faces and dance moves.

Find an artist that has lyrics and beats that hit home. Not ones that you hear at the club. Not the ones you hear on the radio, but ones that make you feel something. THOSE are the REAL artists, and it's a shame some of them will never get the respect they deserve.
